Trump Goes Off Script, Questions Biden’s Fitness Following Cancer Diagnosis

The Voice News: President Donald Trump shifted tone sharply on Monday regarding former President Joe Biden’s recent cancer diagnosis, moving away from his earlier sympathetic remarks and instead casting doubt on Biden’s ability to serve effectively.

At a White House law enforcement event, Trump responded to a reporter’s question by suggesting that Biden may have concealed his aggressive prostate cancer diagnosis during his time in office, echoing unverified conspiracy theories circulating since Biden’s announcement on Sunday.

“I think it’s very sad,” Trump said. “Actually, I’m surprised that the public wasn’t notified a long time ago because to get to stage 9, that’s a long time. I just had my physical.”

(It’s important to clarify that Biden’s cancer is stage 4 with a Gleason score of 9, which indicates a particularly aggressive form.)

Trump then highlighted his own recent physical exam, which he said included cognitive tests he “aced,” and questioned why Biden’s physical last year did not include similar testing.

“I think the doctor said he’s just fine, and it’s turned out that’s not so — it’s very dangerous. Look, this is no longer politically correct. This is dangerous for our country,” Trump added, noting that presidents should be required to take cognitive tests. Trump, at 79, is just three years younger than Biden.

He further claimed that “somebody is not telling the facts” about Biden’s health, calling the situation “a big problem.”

Medical experts note that aggressive prostate cancer diagnoses are not uncommon in older men. Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screenings are typically recommended for men between ages 55 and 69 but are not standard for men over 70—Biden is 82. Additionally, early-stage prostate cancer often causes no symptoms, meaning it’s possible Biden was unaware of the disease while in office.

Just one day prior, Trump expressed a more compassionate sentiment on the matter. On Sunday, he posted on Truth Social, “Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

Throughout the 2024 election cycle, Trump frequently questioned Biden’s fitness for office, and there have been reports alleging that the White House downplayed the severity of Biden’s health issues while he was president.

Biden’s office confirmed Sunday that he received his prostate cancer diagnosis on Friday and that the cancer had spread to his bones. They also reported that he was experiencing urinary symptoms.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management,” the statement said. “The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”

Notably, during a routine physical last week, doctors discovered a “small nodule” on Biden’s prostate, which prompted further testing and diagnosis.
