Trump Condemns Ukraine for Attacks on Russia Using US Missiles

Newly elected US President Donald Trump has strongly criticized Ukraine for launching deep strikes into Russian territory using missiles provided by the United States. He went as far as calling the decision to allow such attacks “insanity.”

In an interview with Time magazine on Thursday (December 12), Trump said, “This is insanity. I strongly oppose the approval of missile strikes several hundred miles into Russia. Why are we doing this? We are only escalating the war and making the situation more complicated. This should not be allowed.”

Trump was elected as the US President last month. Following the election, current President Joe Biden lifted the ban on Ukraine using US-supplied long-range missiles for attacks inside Russia. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had repeatedly requested this approval from the US, but it was initially denied.

Last month, the White House justified its decision by claiming that North Korea had sent 15,000 troops to support Russia in the war. This prompted Biden to change his stance. Reportedly, this was Biden’s final effort to boost Ukraine’s morale in the war.

Trump has expressed his desire for a swift end to the nearly three-year-long war in Ukraine. Speaking to Time, he stated, “I have an excellent plan to help, but if I reveal it now, it would become a meaningless plan.”

When asked whether he would turn away from supporting Ukraine, Trump replied, “I want to reach an agreement. Abandonment is not the only way to achieve a deal. I am speaking with both sides. Reaching an agreement would benefit both parties.”
