Trump Announces Military Aid for Ukraine Again

After agreeing to a 30-day ceasefire with Russia, the United States has decided to resume military aid to Ukraine. This announcement was made after a meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday (March 11).

U.S. President Donald Trump has also invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House for further discussions.

The Jeddah meeting marked the first official discussion between the two nations after a heated exchange between Trump and Zelensky in the Oval Office. Following the meeting, the U.S. released a joint statement confirming that intelligence sharing and security assistance to Ukraine would resume immediately. These had been suspended after the previous dispute between the two leaders.

According to Reuters, after an eight-hour discussion in Jeddah, Ukraine agreed to the U.S.-proposed 30-day ceasefire with Russia. The meeting included U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian President’s Office, Andriy Yermak. However, no Russian representatives attended.

Following the meeting, Secretary of State Rubio stated that he would present the proposal to Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressed optimism that Russia would accept it. Trump also confirmed that he plans to meet with Putin in the coming days.

Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, no ceasefire had been agreed upon until now. In the war, Russia has gained control over one-fifth of Ukraine’s territory, including Crimea, which was annexed earlier.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia has not yet received official details about the proposal but expects communication with U.S. officials in the coming days.
