Under U.S. President Donald Trump’s new visa program, 1,000 ‘Gold Card’ visas are being sold daily, offering investors a direct path to citizenship. According to an AP News report, this special visa is being granted under the condition of a $5 million investment.
The Express Tribune reported this on Monday (March 24).
The initiative, announced in February this year, is believed to have replaced the previous EB-5 investor visa program. U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated on the All-In Podcast that there are approximately 37 million potential buyers worldwide, and the administration aims to sell one million visas.
Lutnick further stated, “There are 37 million people globally who can afford this card… The President believes we can sell one million.” He also revealed that billionaire John Paulson is one of the key architects of this plan, while Elon Musk is involved in building the technological infrastructure.
While this initiative has the potential to generate massive revenue for the U.S., it has sparked controversy over the idea of selling citizenship for money. Critics argue that it creates special advantages for wealthy individuals while the administration takes a hardline stance against undocumented immigrants.
Despite some uncertainties regarding its implementation, the Trump administration plans to execute this visa program without congressional approval. Trump considers it a key part of his broader immigration policy.
