Washington, D.C. — The Trump Administration has reiterated its stance on safeguarding Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, firmly stating that there will be no cuts to these vital programs. President Trump has consistently assured the public of his commitment to preserving these benefits.
Recent claims suggesting otherwise have been dismissed as misinformation. Notably, entrepreneur Elon Musk’s comments on entitlement spending have been misrepresented. Musk highlighted the significant issue of waste and fraud in government spending, emphasizing that entitlement programs account for a substantial portion of the federal budget.
According to the U.S. Government Accountability Office, taxpayers lose an estimated $521 billion annually due to fraud, with much of it occurring in programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Over the past two decades, the federal government has made an estimated $2.7 trillion in improper payments, including payments to deceased individuals and those no longer eligible for benefits.
Between 2015 and 2022, the Social Security Administration recorded $72 billion in improper payments, while the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services estimated over $140 billion in improper payments in 2024 alone.
The Trump Administration remains focused on eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in government programs to ensure taxpayer dollars are used effectively while maintaining essential benefits for millions of Americans.
