The list of the highest-earning Hollywood actors for 2024 has been released by the renowned American magazine Forbes. According to the report, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has reclaimed the top spot for the first time in four years. Last year, he earned a staggering amount, surpassing stars like Ryan Reynolds and Jerry Seinfeld to secure the number one position.
The report indicates that Dwayne Johnson earned an estimated $88 million last year, with most of his income coming from his roles in Red One, Moana 2, and royalties from his past films.
Ryan Reynolds, who took second place, earned $85 million, while Kevin Hart, in third, earned $81 million. Jerry Seinfeld claimed fourth with $60 million, and Hugh Jackman rounded out the top five with $50 million.
The actors ranking sixth to tenth are:
- Brad Pitt
- George Clooney
- Nicole Kidman
- Adam Sandler
- Will Smith
The report also highlights that many of the top-earning actors made most of their money outside of traditional big-screen roles. This is particularly notable, as six of the top ten films of 2024 were animated, where actors typically don’t receive large paychecks.
Among the top 20 earners, only three are women: Nicole Kidman, Mariska Hargitay, and Scarlett Johansson. Scarlett is the youngest in this list, at 40 years old.
Despite a highly successful year, Timothy Chalamet did not make the list. His successful films in 2024 were based on contracts he had signed the previous year.
OTT platforms also played a role in boosting earnings, with Brad Pitt and George Clooney each earning $35 million for their roles in the film Wolves. With streaming platforms not offering ownership rights for films, actors are paid large sums in advance for their participation.
