Three children diagnosed with HMPV in India

Human Meta Pneumo Virus (HMPV) has been detected in two children in Bengaluru and one child in Ahmedabad.

Almost five years after the Covid epidemic, another virus has reared its head in the world. The name is ‘Human Meta Pneumonia Virus’ (HMPV). The virus, like Covid, was first identified in China.

The symptoms are very similar to Covid. The virus is spreading rapidly. The virus was detected in India on Monday. Three children have been reported infected with HMPV.

Two children in Bengaluru and one in Ahmedabad have tested positive for HMPV.

One of the two children is 3 months old. He has been treated and released. Another eight-month-old baby is recovering at a hospital in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, a two-month-old baby in Ahmedabad, the largest city in Gujarat, has tested positive for the HMPV virus. This child is the first patient to be infected with the virus in India.

However, none of the three infected children and their family members have traveled outside the country in recent times. As a result, it cannot be said that they have been infected with the new virus from anyone outside.
