Scotland legend and former Manchester United star footballer Denis Law has died. He was 84 years old at the time of his death.
Dennis Law also known as ‘The King’ and ‘The Lawman’. Played for Manchester United for 11 years and scored 237 goals in 404 matches for the club. He is the third highest goalscorer in United’s history behind Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton.
Denis Law scored 30 goals in 55 appearances for the Scotland national team and is one of Scotland’s all-time top goalscorers. Sold for British record fees three times in his career.
In 2021, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia.
Dennis’ family said in a statement, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved father, Dennis Law.” He fought a hard battle, but finally found peace. Denis Law was one of the club’s greatest and best-loved players, according to a statement from Manchester United. His skill, enthusiasm and love for the game established him as a generational hero.
The Scotland national team also called him a ‘true great’, saying we will never see anyone like him again. Dennis Law won the Ballon d’Or in 1964 while playing for Manchester United. His memory will live forever.
