Tesla Cybertruck Explosion Outside Trump Hotel in Las Vegas: 1 Dead, 7 Injured

NEW YORK – A Tesla Cybertruck exploded in flames outside the Trump Hotel Las Vegas on January 1st, killing one person and injuring at least seven others. The FBI has joined the investigation into the incident.

Witnesses captured videos of the vehicle exploding and flames pouring out of it just outside the hotel. The explosion occurred hours after a truck attack in New Orleans that killed at least 15 people2.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill stated that there are many questions to be answered regarding the incident. Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the explosion was caused by large fireworks or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and was unrelated to the vehicle itself4.

The Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, part of the Trump Organization, was evacuated after the explosion. The FBI is investigating the incident as a possible terrorist act6.

Eric Trump, executive vice-president of the Trump Organization, posted about the incident on X, expressing gratitude to the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their swift response.

President Joe Biden has been briefed on the explosion and has directed his team to offer any federal assistance needed.
