Tensions Rise: Indian Mobs Target Shops with Pakistani Names, While Pakistanis Show Peace and Patience

Tensions Rise: Indian Mobs Target Shops with Pakistani Names, While Pakistanis Show Peace and Patience.
After a recent diplomatic setback, tensions have escalated in India, where mobs have begun targeting shops with Pakistani names. In contrast, Pakistanis have responded with calm and patience, refusing to retaliate.
Vandalism in India
In Hyderabad, India, members of the ruling BJP party were seen attacking a bakery named Karachi Bakery. Viral videos show protesters demanding that businesses with Pakistani names be shut down or renamed. The incident highlights growing intolerance among certain political groups, who seem unable to accept recent political or diplomatic outcomes favoring Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Peaceful Response
Meanwhile, in Pakistan, businesses with Indian names—such as Bombay Biryani, Delhi Nihari, and Hyderabadi Achar—continue to operate without disruption. Pakistani citizens have made it clear that they will not follow India’s example. One Karachi resident stated, “Shops have nothing to do with politics, and we respect all cultures.”
Political Reactions
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti criticized the vandalism in India, calling it a distraction from real challenges. She stated, “While fanatic mobs in our country are vandalizing shops, bulldozing mosques, and digging up graves to punish the long-dead Mughal emperor Aurangzeb—across the border, his namesake Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed is training his forces for modern air warfare.”
A Tale of Two Nations
The differing public reactions in both countries offer a clear picture: while some in India have chosen destruction and blame, Pakistanis have responded with dignity and coexistence. This contrast sends a strong message about tolerance and maturity in times of heightened tensions.
