In a tragic incident, a robbery was carried out at the Kashimpur Central Crematorium in Bara Harishpur, Natore Sadar Upazila. The temple’s caretaker, Tarun Chandra Das, was brutally murdered during the robbery. Police suspect the incident occurred on Friday night.
The deceased, 55-year-old Tarun Chandra Das, was a resident of Alaiyapur Dhopa Para in Natore town and the son of the late Kalipada Das. Tarun had been serving as the caretaker of the crematorium temple for over two decades, dedicating his life to the temple’s service.
Satyaranjan Roy Tipu, the General Secretary of the Crematorium Committee, confirmed the murder. He stated that on Saturday morning, temple members discovered Tarun’s lifeless body in the storeroom, with his hands and feet tied. Law enforcement officials inspected the scene upon receiving the report.
According to Tipu, “The temple’s donation box and storeroom were broken into, and the grill was cut. It appears that the robbers killed Tarun and made off with cash and valuable brass and copper utensils from the temple.”
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbubur Rahman of Natore Police Station stated, “The body of a man with his hands and feet tied was recovered from the crematorium. Evidence of looted items from the temple’s storeroom has been found. It is likely that the murder was committed in connection with the robbery.”
The incident has left the local community in shock, with many expressing concern over the safety of religious sites and calling for swift justice for the perpetrators.
