Sulshar Returned To Coaching After 3 Years

The former player and coach of Manchester United has taken charge of Turkish club Bekistas.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer returns to the dugout after a long absence from coaching after being sacked by Manchester United. He was appointed as the head coach by Turkish club Bekistas. The matter was confirmed by the club on Saturday. Solskjaer has a contract with Bekistas until next season. The contract, however, has an option to extend the term for another year. Solskjaer was a former United player. This Norwegian footballer played 366 matches for the English club from 1996-2007 and scored 126 goals. After his playing career, he entered the coaching profession.

On that journey, he returned to his old club Old Trafford in 2018 as an interim coach. The most successful club in the Premier League signed a three-year contract with Solskjaer in March 2019. Later, United fired Solskjaer in 2021 due to a series of poor performances. Since then, he has not taken charge of any other club. Besiktas, who have won the Turkish Super League 16 times, have not been in good form this season. They are sixth in the points table in the league. The team has not had a permanent coach since last November. Now 51-year-old Sulshar took that responsibility.

Solskjaer is the second former coach of United to take charge of a club in Turkey. Jose Mourinho is currently in charge of Fenerbahçe.
