London: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a bilateral meeting at 10 Downing Street in London. During the meeting, Starmer expressed the UK’s full support for Ukraine, saying, “We are with you and Ukraine.”
The meeting took place ahead of a summit of Ukraine’s European allies. Zelensky arrived in London following a tense exchange with U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance at the White House last Friday.
The UK and Ukraine also signed a $2.84 billion loan agreement to support Ukraine’s defense capabilities. The loan will be repaid using profits from Russia’s frozen assets.
Zelensky was warmly received by his supporters upon arrival at Downing Street. Starmer greeted him with a hug, saying, “You are very, very welcome here.” He assured Zelensky of the UK’s unwavering support for as long as needed.
Zelensky expressed gratitude for the UK’s extensive support since the start of the war, stating, “I saw many people on the streets, and I want to thank you and the people of the UK.”
Zelensky is also scheduled to meet King Charles III and attend an emergency meeting with European allies, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
