Sri Lanka to Transform Economy and Resume Debt Repayments by 2028, Says President Dissanayake

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced on Monday that the country will focus on transforming its economy and prepare to resume debt repayments from 2028. Presenting his first full budget, Dissanayake emphasized that these efforts are expected to strengthen Sri Lanka’s recovery from a financial crisis and align with a $2.9 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout.

The budget aims to bolster economic recovery by implementing key reforms and policies that will help stabilize the nation’s finances and promote sustainable growth. The President’s announcement marks a significant step towards rebuilding Sri Lanka’s economy and ensuring long-term financial stability.
