Spain Calls for Immediate Ceasefire Restoration in Gaza

Israel continues its relentless attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip. After nearly two months of ceasefire, Israel recently resumed military operations, killing hundreds of Palestinians, including women and children.

In response to growing global outrage, Spain’s Prime Minister has called for the immediate restoration of the ceasefire in Gaza. He also emphasized the need for a two-state solution to ensure peace and stability in the region.

According to a report by the Anadolu Agency, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez discussed the situation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II. During their conversation, Sánchez urged for an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic efforts to achieve long-term stability through a two-state solution.

In a post on social media platform X, Sánchez stated, “We must put an end to this devastating destruction and loss of life.”

Since March 18, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed approximately 800 Palestinians and injured more than 1,600. The recent attacks have violated the ceasefire agreement established in January 2025.

Since October 2023, over 50,100 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have been killed in Israeli military operations in Gaza, with more than 113,700 injured.

Earlier, in November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its actions in the besieged territory.
