Sheikh Hasina to Lead First Public Rally in London After Ouster, Demanding Resignation of Illegal Government

London, December 8, 2024 – In her first public appearance since being ousted from power, Bangladesh Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will lead a grand rally in London on 8th December 2024, demanding the resignation of what she calls the “illegal and unconstitutional” government of Bangladesh. This public rally will also demand the withdrawal of false charges against political leaders and the immediate release of all those arrested by the current regime.

The rally, which is scheduled for Sunday at 2:00 PM, will take place at the Impression Events Venue, located at Milner Rd, London E15 3AD. It marks a significant milestone for Hasina, as it will be her first major step back into public life after being ousted from her political position. The event will provide an opportunity for Hasina to address both local and international supporters and express her stance against the ruling government.

Hasina’s speech is expected to focus on several key issues:

•Condemnation of the current government: She has referred to the administration as “illegal” and “unconstitutional,” accusing them of abusing state power.

•Withdrawal of fabricated charges: Sheikh Hasina will call for the immediate retraction of what she describes as baseless and politically motivated cases filed against opposition leaders and activists.

•Release of political prisoners: The rally will demand the release of all individuals who have been arrested in connection with the ongoing political unrest in Bangladesh.

This rally is seen as part of Hasina’s continued fight for justice and democratic values in her home country, and will likely attract a significant number of attendees from the Bangladeshi diaspora in the UK. The event will also bring attention to the political situation in Bangladesh, particularly highlighting the challenges faced by the opposition and political activists.

Organized by prominent figures, including Sultan Mahmud, Mukulram Awami League, and the Syed Sadiq Rahman Foundation, the rally is expected to draw widespread media coverage and further galvanize those opposed to the current government in Bangladesh. This will also be an important moment for the international community to listen to the voices of those affected by the political climate in Bangladesh.

With this rally, Sheikh Hasina aims to take the first step toward building momentum for a larger global movement calling for justice, democratic governance, and the protection of human rights in Bangladesh.
