Shakira Hospitalized for Stomach Issues, Concert in Lima Canceled

Colombian singer Shakira has been hospitalized due to stomach problems, as confirmed by the artist in a statement on Sunday, February 16. She announced that she was unable to perform at her scheduled concert in Lima, Peru, due to her condition.

According to the Associated Press, Shakira is currently not in a condition to perform, as her doctors have recommended rest. In her statement, the singer expressed her regret, saying, “I’m so sorry I can’t be on stage today. I was really looking forward to connecting with my Peruvian fans.”

Shakira had arrived in Peru on Friday evening for her concert, which was set for Sunday and Monday. Peru was the second country on her South American tour, following her performance in Brazil. She is scheduled to perform next in Canada and Brazil.

Shakira shared her gratitude for the warm welcome from her Latin American fans, mentioning the overwhelming reception at the airport in Lima, where a large crowd gathered to greet her.

The singer assured fans she would recover quickly and is eager to perform again as soon as possible. “My team is working on rescheduling the show to a new date,” she said in the statement.
