Ryan Reynolds Talks About the Future of Deadpool Movies

Ryan Reynolds has said he does not expect to make another Deadpool movie where he is the main character. He thinks Deadpool might be better as a supporting character in someone else’s movie.

In an interview with actor Andrew Garfield for Variety, Reynolds talked about the future of the Deadpool franchise. He said, “I don’t know what will happen with Deadpool. The character works well when he’s used in a way that surprises people. It has been six years since the last movie, and I think part of the reason for that is the role takes up a lot of my life.”

Reynolds explained that he has four kids and doesn’t want to miss important moments in their lives. “When I miss something like their sports event, it makes me feel bad,” he said.

He also said that the Deadpool movie was made to be a complete story, not just a setup for another movie.

Even though Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) was a success, Reynolds said Deadpool might work better in other people’s movies, not as the main character. “Deadpool is better as a supporting character,” Reynolds said. “If I return, it would be in someone else’s film. I’d be happy to be in Channing Tatum’s movie or anyone else’s.”

Deadpool & Wolverine is now available to stream on Disney+.
