Moscow, June 18, 2025 — Russia has issued a strong warning to the United States, urging Washington to refrain from providing any military assistance to Israel in its ongoing conflict with Iran. The warning comes amid growing fears that U.S. involvement could trigger a wider regional war.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov cautioned that any American military support for Israel—whether in the form of weapons, intelligence, or direct strikes—would be viewed by Moscow as a dangerously provocative move.
“Speculative ideas about U.S. involvement in Israeli military operations against Iran are extremely risky,” Ryabkov said in a televised briefing. “Such actions would radically destabilize the Middle East and could lead to uncontrollable consequences.”
The statement follows a week of escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran, with both countries exchanging missile strikes and drone attacks. Israeli airstrikes have reportedly targeted Iranian nuclear and military infrastructure, while Iran has responded with attacks on Israeli cities and bases.
Amid the violence, Russia has positioned itself as a potential mediator. President Vladimir Putin has called for an immediate ceasefire and emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
“Russia is prepared to facilitate direct talks between Tehran and Jerusalem,” said Foreign Intelligence Chief Sergei Naryshkin. “The situation is critical, and further military intervention—especially by outside powers—will only make it worse.”
The warning also comes in response to recent comments by U.S. officials suggesting that Washington is “reviewing options” to support its ally Israel. While no official decision has been announced, defense analysts believe the U.S. could provide logistical or intelligence support if the conflict deepens.
Moscow’s intervention underscores the growing complexity of the Iran-Israel conflict, with global powers increasingly drawn into the crisis. Russia has long maintained strategic ties with Tehran, while also engaging diplomatically with Israel on military deconfliction in Syria and beyond.
As tensions continue to mount, observers warn that a miscalculation by any party—including the U.S.—could push the region toward a full-scale war.
