Putin Announces Three-Day Ceasefire in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary three-day ceasefire in Ukraine. The Kremlin has stated that all military operations will be suspended from the morning of May 8 until May 11. However, Ukraine has not yet responded to this announcement.

Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The war has resulted in the deaths of thousands of soldiers and countless civilians on both sides. Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump, now in his second term, has taken fresh initiatives for peace talks. He has hinted that a peace agreement may be reached soon, although no official announcement has been made yet. Previously, on the occasion of Easter, Putin had declared a 30-hour ceasefire, but both sides accused each other of violating that truce.
