Protests Outside Parliament in South Korea

An intense situation has emerged in South Korea surrounding the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol. Thousands of citizens have gathered outside the country’s parliament, demanding the president’s removal from office.

Meanwhile, the ruling party has announced its opposition to President Yoon’s impeachment. They disagree with the impeachment proposal brought forward by the opposition.

When the voting to remove the president began, ruling party MPs walked out of the parliament.

The walkout by ruling party MPs means that the majority required to pass the impeachment proposal might not be achieved.

Earlier, Yoon Suk Yeol refused to resign but issued an apology.

Yoon stated, “After declaring martial law, I am not avoiding political responsibility or legal matters. However, I claim the decision was made out of frustration.”

The president further added, “I apologize to those who were disappointed.”
