Paris, February 16 – A protest and demonstration were held in France against the illegal and unconstitutional Yunus government, which has been accused of forcibly seizing power, conspiring to portray Bangladesh as a militant state on the global stage, violating human rights, persecuting minorities, and engaging in political assassinations.
The protest was organized by the France Awami League and its affiliated organizations at the historic Place de la République in Paris. Speakers at the demonstration condemned the irregularities and repressive actions of the Yunus government and called for international attention.
Md. Mujibur Rahman, General Secretary of the All-European Awami League, participated in the protest. The gathering was presided over by M.A. Kashem, President of the France Awami League, and conducted by General Secretary Dilwar Hossain Koyes.
Protesters expressed their anger by throwing Yunus’s pictures on the ground and stomping on them. Local French citizens also joined the demonstration in solidarity.
Speakers stated that the people of Bangladesh have been deprived of their right to express opinions, extrajudicial killings have increased, and various conspiracies are being carried out to suppress political opponents. They urged the international community to take effective steps in restoring democracy in Bangladesh.
Besides the leaders and activists of the France Awami League and its affiliated organizations, expatriate Bangladeshis also participated in the protest.
