Protesters Rally Outside Yunus’s London Hotel; Adviser Forced to Enter Through Backdoor

London, June 12 — Supporters of Bangladesh’s ruling Awami League and its affiliated organizations staged a protest outside the hotel on Park Lane where Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to Bangladesh’s interim government, is staying during his current UK visit.

Chanting slogans and carrying placards, the demonstrators condemned Yunus’s leadership of the unelected interim government and accused him of unlawfully seizing power.

Amid the tense situation, Yunus was reportedly forced to enter the hotel discreetly through a backdoor, avoiding the main entrance where protesters had gathered in large numbers.

The incident marks yet another controversy in Yunus’s highly scrutinized London trip, which has already drawn criticism over questions of transparency and the purpose of his visit.
