President Trump Praises Pakistan, Expresses Gratitude

U.S. President Donald Trump has praised Pakistan for its assistance in capturing the ISIS terrorist involved in the deadly 2021 Kabul airport bombing.

In a speech to a joint session of the U.S. Congress on Tuesday night, Trump expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani government. The 2021 attack killed 13 U.S. service members and over 100 Afghan civilians. Pakistan captured the top terrorist responsible and handed him over to the U.S.

The Pakistani news outlet Dawn reported the story on Wednesday, March 5. This was Trump’s first address to Congress since taking office in January.

Trump stated, “With Pakistan’s help, we have captured the top terrorist responsible for the killing of 13 American soldiers during the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal. He is coming to America to face justice.”

He added, “I especially want to thank the Pakistani government for helping capture this monster.”

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to Trump for acknowledging Pakistan’s efforts. On social media, he identified the captured terrorist as Sharifullah, a senior operational commander of ISIS-KP.

Sharif said the terrorist, an Afghan national, was captured in a successful operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability and counter-terrorism efforts.

Trump also mentioned his personal connection with the families of the fallen soldiers, saying, “I have spoken with many parents and loved ones, and they are in our hearts tonight.”

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s ongoing partnership with the U.S. to maintain regional peace and stability.
