Pope Francis Passes Away at 88: Celebrities Honor His Legacy

Pope Francis, the beloved leader of the Catholic Church, passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88. DiCaprio, who met with Pope Francis in 2016 to discuss climate change, referred to him as a “transformational leader” and praised his role in advancing the global climate movement, especially with his 2015 encyclical and support for the Paris Agreement. Former U.S. President Barack Obama also paid tribute, reflecting on the Pope’s moral leadership and his unwavering commitment to helping the less fortunate. Sylvester Stallone commended the Pope for his kindness and compassion, while Whoopi Goldberg praised his inclusive messages, emphasizing his ability to unite people of all faiths. Jimmy Fallon, who met the Pope in 2024, shared his fond recollection, writing on Instagram, “It was an honor meeting Pope Francis last summer. I’m glad I made you laugh. Thank you for your encouraging words. Rest in peace.”

British royals King Charles and Queen Camilla also expressed their sadness, joining the global community in mourning the loss of a man who touched millions with his kindness and humility.
