New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Dec 9 reiterated the importance of a strong manufacturing base for ensuring economic resilience in times of global crises. He emphasized India’s commitment to achieving self-reliance through its flagship Make in India initiative, aimed at bolstering domestic manufacturing for both national and global needs.
“The world today requires an economy that remains robust and functions seamlessly even during major crises,” said Modi, underlining the role of manufacturing in creating such resilience.
He highlighted the significance of Atmanirbharta (self-reliance) as a guiding principle for India’s economic strategy, stating that the Make in India program focuses on fostering cost-effective manufacturing to position India as a competitive global hub.
The Make in India initiative, launched in 2014, aims to transform India into a global manufacturing and export powerhouse by encouraging investment, innovation, and skill development while reducing dependence on imports.
