Pelosi Believes Rahm Emanuel Will Run for President in 2028

The Voice News: Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has expressed her belief that Rahm Emanuel, the former mayor of Chicago and U.S. ambassador to Japan, will run for president in 2028.

In a recent interview with The Free Press, Pelosi was asked if Emanuel—who also served as President Obama’s chief of staff—plans to launch a presidential campaign. “I think so,” she replied.

Emanuel, while not directly confirming his candidacy, hinted at political aspirations. “Before I make a decision, I want to know that I have an answer to what I think ails our country, ails our politics, and ails the party—and they may all be the same answer,” he said.

He added, “I know what I want to do. We’ve got to get ready to fight for America—and that’s what I’m going to do.”

Emanuel has fueled speculation about a 2028 run through frequent media appearances and sharp commentary on the Democratic Party’s direction, especially after the party’s setbacks in the 2024 elections.

“I’m not done with public service,” Emanuel said. “I’m hoping it’s not done with me.”

Former Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) praised Emanuel’s credentials, calling his experience “world-class.” Israel noted that Emanuel and Pelosi previously developed strategies that helped Democrats win in both red and blue districts.

“He’s done that. He’s proven his ability to unite Democrats,” Israel said.
