Fans of Peaky Blinders have been eagerly awaiting news on the upcoming Netflix movie The Immortal Man, and creator Steven Knight has just dropped a major update—confirming a theatrical release before it lands on the streaming platform.
The highly anticipated film, which picks up after the events of the series finale, will follow the Shelby family during World War II. Cillian Murphy is set to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby, alongside returning cast members Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck. New faces joining the franchise include Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Jay Lycurgo.
In an interview with The Playlist, Knight explained why he wanted The Immortal Man to be experienced in cinemas.
“I really want the Peaky fans who have been a big part of this… to be watching this all together in one building,” Knight said. “The way that they’re so passionate about it, I really want them to be in cinemas so that people can sit there together and watch this thing happen.”
While The Immortal Man is being developed as a Netflix movie, Knight confirmed that it would first hit theaters, calling the film “mind-blowingly good.”
As for the future of the Peaky Blinders universe, Knight hinted at more spin-offs, saying, “As long as there’s an appetite for it and people want it and I’ve got stories to tell, then why not?”
With a star-studded cast, an exciting World War II setting, and now a theatrical release, The Immortal Man is shaping up to be a must-watch event for Peaky Blinders fans worldwide.
