‘Pakistani Army and Intelligence Work in Bangladesh’

Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has claimed that members of Pakistan’s military and intelligence agency, ISI, have been present in Bangladesh. He further alleged that these personnel even approached the Siliguri Corridor, a strategic region known as the “Chicken’s Neck,” which connects India’s northeastern states to the mainland.

In an interview with Indian news agency ANI on February 19, General Dwivedi was asked about reports of Pakistani military and intelligence personnel near India’s sensitive border areas, including the Siliguri Corridor. In response, he said, “I have referred to that country (Pakistan) as a center of terrorism. If its people travel elsewhere, especially in neighboring regions, and we are affected by it, then of course, I am concerned.”

The Indian Army Chief emphasized that Pakistan should not be allowed to use Bangladeshi territory to send terrorists into India. He added, “They should not be able to use that (Bangladeshi) land to send terrorists into India.”

On the subject of India’s relations with Bangladesh’s military, General Dwivedi stated that ties between the two armed forces are strong, and they frequently exchange notes. However, when asked about political relations, he was less specific, saying, “If you ask about the administration, my position is that when there is an elected government in place, I will be able to comment on what our relationship should be.”

Regarding Kashmir, General Dwivedi asserted that Pakistan continues to focus on the region and refuses to acknowledge it as an integral part of India. He claimed that Pakistan’s actions are primarily aimed at spreading anti-India sentiments.
