Following a series of Indian airstrikes, Pakistan has announced the closure of all its airports for 48 hours. The country’s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the temporary suspension of all domestic and international flights in response to heightened military tensions.
India claims to have launched strikes on nine locations inside Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir under “Operation Sindoor,” a newly initiated military operation. According to Indian authorities, these airstrikes targeted strategic installations.
In response, Pakistan’s federal minister Ataullah Tarar accused India of targeting mosques, women, and children. He also claimed that Pakistan has downed five Indian fighter jets and a drone, and destroyed several enemy positions. He added that a full damage assessment will be released soon.
Meanwhile, the escalation has also affected air travel in India. Several Indian airlines have suspended flights to and from regions close to the border, including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar, Jodhpur, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot. Air India and SpiceJet have both confirmed operational changes due to the closure of airports in northern India
