Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Admits India’s Missiles Hit Nur Khan Airbase After Denials

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Admits India’s Missiles Hit Nur Khan Airbase After Denials. Shehbaz Sharif has acknowledged that India’s ballistic missiles struck Nur Khan Airbase and other locations on May 10. This revelation contradicts Pakistan’s usual stance of denying Indian military actions.
Sharif’s Statement
Speaking at a ceremony at the Pakistan Monument, Sharif disclosed that Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir informed him of the strikes at 2:30 AM via a secure line. He stated, “At around 2:30 AM on May 10, General Syed Asim Munir called me and informed me that India’s ballistic missiles have hit Nur Khan Airbase and other areas.”
Sharif also mentioned that Pakistan’s Air Force used locally developed technology and Chinese jets to defend the country, confirming the impact of the Indian missile strikes.
Operation Sindoor: India’s Retaliatory Strikes
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. As part of the operation, Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Following these strikes, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling along the Line of Control and in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as attempted drone attacks. In response, India launched coordinated strikes, damaging radar systems, communication centers, and airfields across 11 Pakistani airbases.
Political Reactions
BJP leader Amit Malviya highlighted Sharif’s admission, emphasizing the significance of the timing and content of the call from the Pakistani military leadership. He stated, “Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif himself admits that General Asim Munir called him at 2:30 AM to inform him that India had bombed Nur Khan Airbase and several other locations. Let that sink in—the Prime Minister was woken up in the middle of the night with news of strikes deep inside Pakistan. This speaks volumes about the scale, precision, and boldness of Operation Sindoor.”
Ceasefire Agreement
After days of escalating tensions, India and Pakistan reached an understanding to cease hostilities on May 10.
This admission by Pakistan’s Prime Minister marks a significant shift in Islamabad’s approach to acknowledging military confrontations with India. It remains to be seen how this revelation will impact diplomatic relations between the two nations.
