Pakistan has launched a rocket attack on the Ali Sher district of Khost province in Afghanistan. The attack occurred from midnight Thursday to Friday morning. In response, Taliban forces reportedly retaliated, according to Tolo News. Earlier, reports indicated heavy clashes between the forces of the two countries. It was revealed that Pakistan’s border forces fired rockets into Afghanistan on that day.
The Taliban, which controls the Afghan government, condemned the attack. However, they stated that no casualties were reported as a result of the rocket attack by Pakistani forces.
A resident of Khost mentioned that the attack disrupted communication systems, preventing many from traveling to their villages.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has claimed that the attack targeted a Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) base near the Afghan border. However, the Taliban denied the presence of any TTP activities in the region. At the end of last year, a Pakistani attack in Afghanistan reportedly killed more than 70 people, most of whom were claimed to be civilian women and children by the Taliban.
Aziz Marij, a former diplomat, commented, “Such attacks and counterattacks do not yield positive outcomes but instead foster hatred among the people of both countries.”
