Nicole Kidman opened up about her late mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, in an emotional moment during the Palm Springs International Film Festival. While accepting the International Star Award for her role in Babygirl, Kidman shared heartfelt stories and memories of her mother, who passed away last fall.
Kidman revealed how her parents shaped her resilience and strength. Reflecting on the holidays she spent in her native Australia, she said, “I’ve lost both my parents. They’ve given me the love and strength to keep moving forward.”
She also recounted missing the Venice Film Festival last year due to her mother’s sudden passing. “I arrived in Venice, and she was gone. I got the call,” Kidman recalled. Though unable to attend, her Babygirl director, Halina Reijn, accepted the award on her behalf.
In a tearful moment on stage, Kidman said, “My whole career has been for my mom and dad, and they’re not here anymore. This award is for my mom. I feel her with me right now.”
The touching tribute highlighted the deep bond Kidman shared with her mother and how it continues to inspire her work and life.
