Neymar Argues With Rivaldo Over World Cup

He is one of the stars of Brazilian football. He made a big contribution to the country’s fifth and last World Cup win in 2002. Neymar has provoked controversy by wanting to see himself in Rivaldo’s place.

Rivaldo has posted a long post on social media protesting the words of his successor Neymar. Neymar urged Rivaldo to remain calm.

The question may arise, what happened suddenly between the two former and current stars of Brazil that the water went so far?

Let’s talk about it from the beginning. Romario, another Brazilian legend and hero of the 1994 World Cup, recently discussed various issues with Neymar in a podcast called ‘Charla’. There, Romario asked Neymar who he would like to see in Brazil’s last three World Cup winners (2002, 1994 and 1970). In response, Neymar named former Barcelona star Rivaldo in the 2002 World Cup.
But Rivaldo could not take the matter normally. “I heard Neymar say that at the best time of his career he played in my place at the 2002 World Cup,” the 52-year-old legend wrote on Instagram. To be honest, I acknowledge his talent and skill and also believe he could have been in that team. But playing in my place could have been a different story. With all due respect and admiration to him, I can say with 100% certainty that it would not have happened. ’

“At that time I was so focused, determined and hungry to win the World Cup that no one, no matter how good he was at the best of his career, could take my place,” Rivaldo said. I can say with confidence that those who were with me at that moment know how hard I fought to be world champion. ’

However, Neymar could not accept Rivaldo’s argument. Addressing his predecessor, the 32-year-old forward of Al Hilal wrote: “Calm down, my friend. All the Brazilian players participating in the World Cup are 100% dedicated and focused. Some managed to reach their ultimate goal, unfortunately others did not. It’s part of football. I have always respected you and I will never underestimate all your achievements for Brazilian football. ’

Neymar returned to play in the AFC Champions League in November last year after recovering from a serious injury. But after playing two matches, he was out again for two months due to hamstring injury. The star forward is now working on fitness. He will be seen playing again soon.
