NATO Urges Full Investigation Into Azerbaijan Airlines Plane Crash That Killed 38

BRUSSELS – NATO on Thursday called for a thorough investigation into the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash that claimed 38 lives near Aktau, Kazakhstan.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and victims of Azerbaijan Airlines flight J28243,” NATO spokesperson Farah Dakhlallah posted on the platform X. “We wish those injured a speedy recovery and call for a full investigation.”

The Embraer passenger jet crashed on Wednesday after diverting from an area of Russia recently targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks, according to local reports. Kazakhstan’s Senate Chairman noted that the cause of the crash remains unknown.
