Nationwide Student Protests Erupt Over Gaza Conflict; U.S. Embassy Dhaka Issues Demonstration Alert

Dhaka, April 7, 2025 — University students across Bangladesh have launched widespread demonstrations today, protesting against the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The protests, expected to gather momentum throughout the day, have prompted a security advisory from the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, urging American citizens to exercise caution.

According to the embassy’s official alert, demonstrators plan to converge at key locations in Dhaka and other major cities, potentially disrupting traffic and creating mass gatherings near sensitive areas, including the U.S. Embassy. In response, the embassy has announced limited afternoon public services for the day.

U.S. citizens in Bangladesh have been advised to avoid protest sites, steer clear of large crowds, and remain vigilant. Authorities warn that even peaceful gatherings can quickly escalate into violence. The embassy emphasized the importance of monitoring local news, staying aware of surroundings, and keeping mobile phones charged for emergency communication.
