Nancy Pelosi Hospitalized After Injury During Luxembourg Trip

Former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been hospitalized following an injury sustained during an official trip to Luxembourg, her office confirmed on Friday.
According to U.S. media reports, Pelosi, 84, fractured her hip after tripping on a staircase at an event. Her spokesperson, Ian Krager, stated that she is “receiving excellent care from medical professionals” and remains in good spirits.
Pelosi was in Luxembourg as part of a bipartisan Congressional delegation to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. The delegation included 17 other House members and was scheduled to participate in events alongside veterans, their families, and military officials. However, Pelosi’s injury has prevented her from further participation in the activities.
Despite her hospitalization, Krager noted that Pelosi is continuing her work from the hospital and looks forward to returning to the U.S. soon.
A Career of Distinction
Nancy Pelosi has been a prominent figure in U.S. politics, representing California in the House of Representatives for over three decades. She served two separate terms as House Speaker, from 2007 to 2011 and from 2019 to 2023, a role that places her second in line to the presidency. While she stepped down as Speaker in 2023, Pelosi remains an active member of Congress and was recently reelected to another two-year term.
Context of the Trip
The visit to Luxembourg was part of a bipartisan effort to honor one of World War II’s pivotal battles. This trip underscores Pelosi’s continued dedication to public service and her enduring influence in U.S. politics.
Similar Recent Incidents
Pelosi’s injury comes shortly after another high-profile fall involving Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who suffered a sprained wrist and facial injuries earlier this week at the U.S. Capitol.
