Tensions Rise in West Bengal’s Shibpur Over Alleged Land Dispute at Hindu Cremation Ground

NORTH 24 PARGANAS, WEST BENGAL — A land dispute in Shibpur village under Minakha Police Station has sparked tensions between Hindu and Muslim communities. Hindu residents have accused their Muslim neighbors of attempting to encroach on a cremation ground that they claim has been used for both religious rituals and annual Puja celebrations.

According to Hindu villagers, attempts to disrupt their activities on the land have been a recurring issue, with tensions flaring during Puja ceremonies. They have vowed to protect the cremation ground at all costs, describing it as an integral part of their cultural and religious heritage.

The situation has drawn the attention of local authorities, who are expected to intervene to prevent further escalation. No official statements have been made by the Minakha Police regarding the allegations.
