Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad, peace is gradually being restored in Syria. As a result, many Syrians who fled to other countries during the civil war are now starting to return to their homeland.
Turkey’s Ministry of Interior has stated that, so far, nearly 31,000 Syrian citizens have returned to their country from Turkey since the fall of Bashar al-Assad. Turkey had provided refuge to approximately 3 million Syrian refugees.
In 2011, millions of people fled Syria. Following the departure of Bashar al-Assad on December 8, it is hoped that many of them will return to their homeland.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has reported that the number of returnees has reached 30,663.
Earlier, on Tuesday, more than 25,000 Syrian citizens returned to Syria from Turkey.
