Millie Bobby Brown’s The Electric State Gets Negative Reviews

Millie Bobby Brown’s latest film The Electric State has made headlines for all the wrong reasons, setting an unwelcome record for the actor. The Stranger Things star, who plays the lead role of Michelle in the science-fiction adventure comedy, stars alongside Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt, who plays Keats. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely—who all previously worked on Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame—the film is highly anticipated but has received largely negative reviews ahead of its official release.

Although the film is set to be released on Netflix this Friday, March 14, critics have already weighed in, and the reception has not been favorable. The Electric State currently holds a dismal 23% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 22 critic reviews, making it Millie Bobby Brown’s lowest-rated movie on the platform.

Many of the negative reviews have described the film as a typical Netflix-exclusive release, with a generic script that some critics feel comes off as an ode to consumerism. Despite the star-studded cast and the Russo brothers’ involvement, the film has struggled to capture the audience’s attention in a positive light.

In addition to discussing the film, Brown shared some personal details during the press trip. She revealed that her middle name isn’t actually Bobby, despite what many believe—though it still starts with the letter “B.”

Brown also teased her upcoming project, Enola Holmes 3, revealing that she would begin filming the next installment for Netflix in the coming weeks. However, she did not confirm whether Henry Cavill would reprise his role for the sequel.

On a lighter note, Brown expressed her desire to play Britney Spears in a planned biopic, stating, “Nothing would make me happier than being able to play such an iconic, beautiful person. I leave that to the gods.”

As The Electric State continues to draw attention for its early reviews, Brown’s upcoming projects remain highly anticipated.
