Messi Started The Year In Goal, Miami Won The Tiebreaker

While Europe’s club soccer season is midway through, the US Major League Soccer (MLS) season is just getting started. Before the start of the new season, there are friendly matches between the clubs. Lionel Messi saw the net for the first time in the new year in the Inter Miami jersey. Javier Mascherano’s side later won 3-2 in a dramatic tiebreaker.

Inter Miami won the tiebreaker 3-2 after a 2-2 draw in a friendly against Club America at Allegant Stadium in the United States on Sunday morning. 37-year-old Messi met the net for the first time in the new year. The team was in danger of losing even though the Argentine legend scored a goal. Thomas Aviles took the tiebreaker with a goal at the last minute. Club America dominated the field that day. They had 65 percent of the ball. He also took more shots on goal. They hit 3 targets with 10 shots. On the other hand, Messi’s army can have 3 goals with 5 shots. Club America took the lead in the 31st minute with Henry Martin’s goal. Messi did not take time to equalize. Three minutes later, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner headed Suarez’s floater in off the post. It was his first goal of 2025, his 35th for Miami.

In the 52nd minute, Israel Reis scored a goal for Club America. Tomas Aviles saved Miami in the second minute of added time. 2-2 ended the regulation time.

After that, both teams took 12 shots in the tiebreaker, 5 goals were scored in total. There, Inter Miami left the field with a 3-2 lead.
