The Voice News: After more than a decade at Real Madrid, Luka Modrić has parted ways with the club. While his absence will be deeply felt, the iconic number 10 jersey is now set to be worn by Kylian Mbappé.
Mbappé joined Real Madrid during the summer transfer window of 2024. Initially, he was handed the number 9 jersey previously worn by fellow Frenchman Karim Benzema.
Though his start at Madrid was rocky, Mbappé gradually found his form. He scored 43 goals across all competitions, winning the European Golden Boot and finishing as La Liga’s top scorer. He also helped Madrid win the UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup, though he didn’t find success in other tournaments.
According to a report by El Chiringuito, Mbappé will take on a new role in the 2025–26 season by wearing the number 10 shirt previously worn by Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modrić.
Modrić had worn the number 10 jersey since 2017. Before him, the number was famously worn by World Cup winner Mesut Özil, Portuguese star Luís Figo, Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf, and Danish legend Michael Laudrup.
