Marvel Fans React to ‌‘Scary’ Villain in New Thunderbolts Trailer

Marvel Studios has released the latest Thunderbolts trailer online, following its debut during the Super Bowl, and it’s stirring up excitement among fans. The 36th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) flips the Avengers formula on its head by bringing together a group of anti-heroes, many of whom have seen better days.

Set to a reworked version of Starship’s “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” the trailer highlights the uneasy dynamic between the team, which includes Yelena, Bucky, US Agent, Red Guardian, Ghost, and Taskmaster. Even Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who assembled the team, doesn’t seem confident in their ability to defeat the villains they’ll face.

But it’s the introduction of the film’s main antagonist, Sentry (also known as The Void), that’s getting the most attention. The trailer offers glimpses of Sentry’s terrifying powers, including dark energy sweeping across a city, buildings crumbling, and people transforming into shadows or piles of ash with a mere wave of his hand.

Fans on Reddit have been particularly impressed with the visualization of Sentry’s abilities. One commented, “The Void’s killing effect is scary.” Another added, “Yeah, that looks freaky in a cool way. Very little shown, but he seems way above their power level, which is great.”

One fan pointed out the chilling nature of Sentry’s power: “Just completely sucking people into the ground. No dissolutions, no explosions, just turned into complete darkness. That’s a crazy way to avoid the R rating while mass murdering people, but it’s actually really scary to think about.”

Others have drawn comparisons between Sentry’s abilities and Thanos’ infamous snap, but on a smaller scale.

Additionally, some fans are speculating that either Red Guardian or Taskmaster may meet their end in the film. While it’s just speculation, fans are eager to see how the story unfolds.

With Thunderbolts set to bring a darker, more intense chapter to the MCU, fans are eagerly awaiting the film’s release, hoping this unlikely team of anti-heroes can overcome the ominous threat of The Void.
