West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will lose power between 2027 and 2029. She also stated that the political battle would intensify in 2026.
Speaking at a grand party convention at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata, Mamata set a target for her party, Trinamool Congress (TMC), to win more than 215 seats in the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. She urged party workers to ensure a massive victory.
Criticizing the BJP, she accused the party of using central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Income Tax Department to intimidate opposition leaders. According to her, BJP-controlled media and agencies manipulate election processes.
Mamata also alleged that BJP was tampering with voter lists in West Bengal by adding names from Punjab and Haryana. She urged her party workers to clean the voter lists and be vigilant to prevent electoral fraud.
She warned that as BJP’s tenure comes to an end, they would intensify efforts to target West Bengal. However, she expressed confidence that her party would resist such attempts and give BJP a fitting response.
Concluding her speech, Mamata reiterated, “The BJP’s time is running out. By 2027-2029, their rule will end.”
