As Madhubala’s 92nd birth anniversary approaches on February 14, her younger sister, Madhur Brij Bhushan, has expressed deep disappointment over the lack of progress on the biopic of the late actress. Despite signing an agreement with Sony Pictures in May 2024, Madhur reports no updates or developments on the film. She has attempted to contact the studio multiple times via email but has received no response.
In response to the ongoing delays, Madhur has served a legal notice to Sony Pictures through her legal team. She emphasized her frustration, stating, “I am a senior citizen, and this endless wait is extremely disheartening. However, along with my partners, I will do whatever it takes to ensure that this film is made.”
Madhur also warned against unauthorized portrayals of Madhubala’s life, asserting that any such attempts without her approval would be met with legal action. She expressed her desire to honor her sister’s memory by undertaking special projects, such as establishing a mural, an old age home, and a music school in her name. However, these initiatives have been delayed due to the biopic’s postponement.
Madhubala, born Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi, was a prominent Indian actress in the 1950s and 1960s, known for her exceptional talent and beauty. She appeared in over 70 films during her career and remains an iconic figure in Bollywood.
