Lucy Liu Open to Reprising Role in ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Reboot

Lucy Liu is open to the idea of a Charlie’s Angels reboot and returning to play her character, Alex Munday.

In a recent interview, Liu said she would be willing to revisit the role she played in the 2000 Charlie’s Angels movie, directed by McG. She starred alongside Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz.

When asked if she had heard anything about a possible reboot, Liu told Entertainment Tonight, “I don’t hear much of anything until it actually happens.”

Although there are no confirmed plans for a reboot, Liu said, “I’m never going to say no to that. But I would be surprised if something happens or doesn’t happen. You just never know until it happens.”

The year 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the Charlie’s Angels film, which was based on the 1976 TV show created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts. The original TV show starred Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson, and Farrah Fawcett.

Liu starred in the 2000 Charlie’s Angels movie and returned for the 2003 sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

About her experience starring in the films, Liu said, “It was fun to be in a movie with three strong women who were also having fun. It wasn’t meant to be serious at all.”

In 2019, Elizabeth Banks directed a new Charlie’s Angels film, starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska as the Angels.
