Peaky Blinders star Kate Phillips has confirmed that she won’t be reprising her role in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, despite earlier discussions about her return.
The highly anticipated Netflix film, titled The Immortal Man, will follow the events of the show’s season six finale and focus on the Shelby family during World War II. Phillips, who portrayed Linda Shelby, wife of Arthur Shelby, shared her disappointment about not being part of the film.
When asked by Radio Times whether she would be returning, Phillips responded, “I’m not. There were discussions and then it didn’t pan out.”
The actress expressed gratitude for having been part of the iconic show, saying, “It was such an amazing show to be part of, and Steven Knight still continues to have ideas for the life and the future of Peaky Blinders, and that’s always lovely to kind of engage with his hopes and dreams for the show.”
Phillips added, “The life of an actor is, you’re sort of always at the behest of other people’s visions, and sometimes it’s very much a wait and see kind of game. But I’m excited to see the film. I have read it, and I’m excited to see how it turns out on the big screen. I’m sure it will be amazing.”
The upcoming film will see several returning cast members, including Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg, Sophie Rundle as Ada Thorne, and more. New cast members include Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Jay Lycurgo, though their roles are being kept under wraps for now.
Creator Steven Knight recently teased the future of the Peaky Blinders universe, saying, “It’s not over, let’s just put it like that. I’m not allowed to announce it… but I’m just saying that the world of Peaky will continue.”
