Justice Department Releases Special Counsel’s Final Report on Hunter Biden Investigation

The Justice Department has released special counsel David Weiss’ final report on his investigation into Hunter Biden. Weiss charged President Joe Biden’s son with firearm and tax crimes, and the younger Biden pleaded guilty ahead of his scheduled September trial. The outgoing president pardoned his son on Dec. 1, saying that “raw politics” had led to a “miscarriage of justice.”

Weiss forcefully pushed back on that characterization in his report, writing:

“Politicians who attack the decisions of career prosecutors as politically motivated when they disagree with the outcome of a case undermine the public’s confidence in our criminal justice system. The President’s statements unfairly impugn the integrity not only of Department of Justice personnel, but all of the public servants making these difficult decisions in good faith”
