Jimmy Carter Posthumously Wins Grammy for Audiobook Narration

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was posthumously awarded a Grammy for his audiobook Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration, recorded in August 2024. The work, a personal narrative of his life, was nominated for the 2025 Grammy Awards before his passing at the age of 100 in December.

During the Grammy ceremony on February 2, 2025, Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter, accepted the award on his behalf, delivering an emotional tribute. He shared, “My grandfather was someone I deeply loved and an incredibly important person in my life.”

Jason also expressed gratitude toward Kabir Sehgal, the musical director of the recording, and other contributing artists, including John Batiste, LeAnn Rimes, and Darius Rucker.

The award recognizes Carter’s exceptional narration, which has now reached a global audience, immortalizing his voice and legacy. If he had lived, Carter would have been the oldest Grammy winner in history.
