Jeff Baena, Filmmaker and Husband of Aubrey Plaza, Passes Away at 47

The film industry mourns as Jeff Baena, a noted director and the husband of actress Aubrey Plaza, was found dead at his Los Angeles residence on Friday morning. He was 47 years old.
According to media reports, Baena’s body was discovered by an assistant, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
Baena, who married Plaza in 2021, was known for his work in films like “The Little Hours,” “Life After Beth,” and “Joshy.” His family has expressed their devastation over the loss, requesting privacy through a statement to Deadline.
Aubrey Plaza, recognized for her roles in “The White Lotus” and “Parks and Recreation,” has yet to make a public statement regarding her husband’s passing.

Baena began his career after graduating from New York University with a film degree, moving to Los Angeles to chase his dream of directing. He initially worked under the guidance of acclaimed directors Robert Zemeckis and David O. Russell. His first step into directing came with the 2014 zombie comedy “Life After Beth,” which starred Plaza, and they continued to work together on various projects thereafter.
